Cagayan de Oro City- Northern Mindanao particularly Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City was lashed by typhoon Sendong triggering floods and cutting water supply. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) reported about 100,000 people, or about 20,000 families, were displaced and brought to more than a dozen emergency shelters in Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City and other areas.
In response to the needs of the flood victims, World Assembly of Muslim Youth – Philippines has conducted relief operation at the affected areas. WAMY-Philippines has donated food packs through ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya and DOTC-LTFRB X in support to the Government’s flood relief efforts.
WAMY is accepting donations at its helpdesk office at 2nd Floor Kagayhaan Building, Apovel, Cagayan de Oro City. WAMY Personnel and volunteers from Wisdom- Philippines are being deployed to pack and deliver relief goods, under the direction of the Executive Director Monib Sarangani.
