Marawi City- WAMY’s Scholars Recognition Day was held on November 27, 2011 by the World Assembly of Muslim Youth, Philippines at Mamitua Saber Research and Technology Center, MSU Main Campus with more than one hundred attendees range from Awardees’ Parents, WAMY Scholars, WAMY Advisory Councils, and some Staffs of WAMY’s various Departments.
The World Assembly of Muslim Youth, Philippines holds this kind of program- WAMY’s Scholars Recognition Day-annually for its scholars, who are Academically Excellent in their particular fields of study to inspire others as well to excel in their academic and become instrument of change in society.
As usual, the program was formally opened with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an and followed by a Welcome Address from WAMY Scholars’ representative. A speech of WAMY’s Director Alim Monib M. Sarangani followed. As director of WAMY, he expressed his happiness for the great achievements of his scholars. He wished them more happiness and blessings this newyear and hoped for their noble contributions to the Muslim communities.
Another short but impressive talk was delivered by Dr. Ibrahim Mangondato. He actually inspired audience with the Prophetic Tradition, which says: “The ink of the scholar is holier than the blood of the martyr”. This implies the significant role of a scholar. After that, a short entertainment performed by some scholars of WAMY.
Awarding of prizes, certificates was followed. The director with the assistance of WAMY’s Staffs distributed awards to the awardees. Later, speeches from awardees’ representative followed.
After awarding, Dr. Ali B. Panda, the guest of that day delivered his impressive talk highlighting some of the challenges he had gone through in the university, which did not prevent him to pursue his degree. In fact his speech was so inspiring.
The program was ended with picture taking for documentation.
