Marawi City- The first Marawi wide – inter high school quiz show with the theme “Revitalizing the Islamic Golden Age through Devoted Learning among Muslim Youths” was sponsored by World Assembly Muslim Youth (WAMY) Marawi city scholars. It was held on July 23, 2011 (Saturday) 7:00 – 12:00 NN at Academic Complex, Marawi city.
There are eleven (11) participating schools and the following are, Aba al Khair, MSU Integrated Laboratory School (ILS), Dansalan College, Ibn Siena Integrated School Foundation (ISISF), MSU Balindong, Marawi City National Highschool (MNHS), Senator Ninoy Aquino College Foundation (SNACF), Al Khwarizmi International College Science Laboratory School (AKIC–SLS), Philippine Integrated School (PIS), Jamiatul Marawi Al-Islamia Foundation (JMIF) and Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao (JMM).
Every school is allowed to send three (3) representatives from their school. Each of them must be a bonafide student of their school, and enrolled as 3rd or 4th year student. They must be male or female students, with good moral and character, and has a scholastic performance in their school.
The main purpose of the inter high school quiz is to eradicate the discrimination, and to bridge the gap among students and schools. It is also to develop and enhance their academic performance to be a good and competitive Muslim student. Lastly, it is to promote scholastic excellence and camaraderie and among the Muslim youths through healthy intellectual competition – a pursuit in furtherance of the organization’s fundamental goal of developing the Muslim youth.
The top 5 schools who made it in the final round are MSU Integrated Laboratory School, AKIC – Science Laboratory School, MSU Balindong, and Ibn Siena Integrated School Foundation. There were 15 questions asked in the final round, and the school who answered them most is AKIC – Science Laboratory School, so they were declared as the champion. But ISISF and MSU Balindong have tied for the second place, so they have to play for a tie breaker round. The two played fiercely against each other, that they are still tie after five questions. But on the 6th question, it was MSU Balindong who answered the question, and grabbed the second place. ISISF has to settle for the third place.
The champion was awarded of a 1,000.00 pesos money prize, three medals and a trophy. The 1st runner up received a 750.00 pesos money prize, three medals and a trophy. The 2nd runner up received a 500.00 pesos money prize, medals and a trophy.
We are very happy to have the support of the WAMY officials for entrusting us, the WAMY scholars in implanting this program. We would also like to thank the Executive Director, Monib Sarangani, and Sir Moctar Bato for their attendance in the program. The WAMY scholars will continue to support the programs of WAMY, and support other Islamic programs in the future.
